Picking an email address for your actor website

Actor Website Tip #2

Get an easy to remember email, i.e. cast@yourname.com or hire@yournameactor.com

Now that you've gotten a domain name for your actor website, you should be able to set up an email address under that domain.

I understand that a lot of you might be already used to the single account that you might have with AOL or MSN or Yahoo, but that doesn't speak your brand. I've seen so many emails out there that just say random nonsense like "cutekittens24@yahoo.com" - if this is a real email and you own it, I apologize for putting you on the spot, hopefully you're not an actor. But if you are an actor, then your name is your brand and you need to use it for email communications. Don't be a Yahoo, stand behind your choice of a domain name.

If you don't want to monitor another email account, that is completely fine. You can set up email forwarding to go to your current email, and you can set up your current email in a fashion that will allow you to respond using the email address from your domain name.

So following the trend from the first tip, let's consider "JaneSmithActress.com" as our domain name. Do not create the username to be "JaneSmith" again. JaneSmith@JaneSmithActress.com is repetitive and looks amateurish. Use a verb here instead: "contact", "email", "hire" or "cast" will do just fine.

Finally, keep in mind that if you want to go on a hiatus, or vacation, you can simply reroute that email and your primary email that you use for communicating with your friends and family won't be affected.

It's a win-win.
